About Vanya Garabedian, LCSW
Bringing over twenty years of experience in the mental health field and having completed a Master's degree in 2012, Vanya brings a multicultural perspective to her work.
Vanya is a supervisor and mentor for fellow therapists and facilitates workshops and trainings for professionals. These workshops cultivate an engaging and informative atmosphere, reflective of her dedication to both continuous learning and facilitating discussions.
From an early point in her life, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery. As an Armenian American woman residing in the United States, she navigates the complexities of a multicultural existence. Vanya holds a passionate dedication to supporting others in their journey to explore and understand their racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, and gender identities.
She conducts workshops from her practice and is also available to travel to organizations and businesses to facilitate on-site. The workshop topics include categories such as Trauma-Informed Care, Cultural Humility, Ethics, Supervision, and Ethics of Supervision. All trainings can be customized to meet your organizations unique needs.
Her clinical background encompasses a comprehensive understanding of diverse models, ranging from BrainSpotting, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As a certified BrainSpotting therapist, her clinical focus revolves around this approach, integrating it into client interactions.
With personal experience as a woman in recovery from trauma and addiction, she works with supporting individuals who are also on a journey of recovery. This includes offering support and guidance to the loved ones of individuals grappling with these challenges. Recognizing the common intersection of trauma and addiction, a firm belief is held that addressing both is needed for comprehensive healing. Vanya is also available to those who are ready for transformative life shifts and progression to the next phase. *It’s important to be aware that, due to the nature of private practice, she is unable to work with individuals in active addiction.*
